Meet
David

I am an entrepreneur, author and also known as A Good Landlord because that is the name of my real estate company. I have been self-employed since I was twenty and love just about everything about business. My passion and expertise is in marketing and I enjoy working with existing businesses to grow their business.

I love using business to make a positive impact on the lives of people.

I live by trying to help

at least one person per day.

01

The Not So Great Start

School was not my thing as I ended up graduating with a 1.9 GPA in high school. I am clearly pro education but as I realized down the road, you can learn the wrong things as well. Jim Rohn said, “Public education will make you a living and self-education will make you rich.”.

I have read hundreds of books on business and marketing that had a real impact on my life. Even then, not having any business influence form my family, I looked at local, successful entrepreneurs as celebrities.

02

The Spark

After high school, I had no clue what I was going to do for a living but when I was 16, I became a Christian and one night I saw Billy Graham preaching on tv in front of one hundred thousand people. It blew my mind. My naive young brain thought I could pull that off. I ended up going to bible college but I kept coming back to business.

My first business book that I ever purchased (and still own) was How To Master The Art of Selling by Tom Hopkins. In that book, he said to get a straight commission job to make the most money.

I went back home to Murfreesboro, TN and started selling cellphones. One sale really changed my life. I made $1,700 in forty-five minutes selling twelve Nextel (remember them?) cellphones. I took two weeks off because I thought I was rich. It was then I realized how much I value my freedom.

03

The Discovery

While at bible college, I discovered people were making money online. Ebay was the only thing most people knew about but ebooks were just starting and affiliate marketing was created. I sold a $97 software by sending out my affiliate link from the computer lab and made $47. I made money overnight without me being there.

That was it for me. I went on to do several projects through the years including creating a travel website that paid my mortgage for years despite not writing a word on that website.

04

The First Book

When I was twenty-six, I wrote my first book which was a game changer for me. At the time of this writing, I have published nine books since then. In 2015, with just $200, I co-founded a company that would go on to do several million dollars and 400,000 people got a copy of my book.

It was a great journey and one where I had found the right vehicle. I tell my friends that I didn’t learn one more single skill, I just happened to find the vehicle to make money.

05

The Connections

Speaking of finding the right vehicle, one of my gifts is seeing opportunities that others don’t and connecting the dots. This is why established business owners come to me for that second set of eyes on their business. It’s not just connecting the dots either.

I have built a large network of people and enjoy connecting others by hosting events. The picture you see here is an exclusive event that I held at the castle that you see right outside of Franklin, TN. I hosted 12 millionaires and we set at a 400 year old table trading secrets.

The Good Landlord Is Born

I have always wanted to own real estate and in 2017, we bought our first investment property and we have been buying ever since. The name, A Good Landlord, LLC came to me because I enjoy marketing and also helping people. I love using our business to fund charities that we believe in like our local food pantry.

We also try and help our tenants if they want advice on their career or finances. Another great thing about being A Good Landlord is teaching our daughter how to run a successful business and how to do good in the world.
